Acceptance

·

Judging others comes easily to me, and my employer is often an easy target of my judgment, maybe because it represents authority. When I feel victimized by a policy or practice, I often respond with grumbly thoughts.

But I know today that practicing judgment takes up precious time and energy and keeps me from looking at myself. So I’m willing to try a new behavior.

Today I will practice accepting a situation as it is. I’ve heard it said in recovery that “acceptance is the key to all my problems.” There may be real injustice around me. I don’t have to approve of it; I just have to accept it as part of reality. Then I can choose my response, change the things I can, and trust that my Higher Power can help me take care of myself in any circumstances.
