When to Let Go

·

Sometimes, to live “life on life’s terms,” we deal with what happens to us on the job every day even if we’re not that happy about it. We suit up and show up, practice new behaviors, tend to our side of the street. We try to make difficult situations work, without running from conflict or discomfort.

Other times, though . . . it’s just time to throw in the towel. If a job is draining my energy to the point where it’s affecting the rest of my life, I’m harming no one by looking for other work. In fact, I may be harming myself and others by staying.

Today, if I’ve been in a difficult job for a while, I’ll ask my Higher Power for a fresh perspective and for the willingness to try something new. I’ll remember that this Power’s plans for me are always better than the plans I make for myself.
