When we enter recovery, we start the process of constructing (or reconstructing) a relationship with a Power greater than ourselves. In Step Three, we’re asked to “turn our will and our lives over to the care of God.” We begin to ask for guidance, not always knowing exactly how to receive it.

For many of us, this is an unfamiliar place to be. But it’s also the start of building trust with the Power that rebuilds our lives and restores us to sanity.

Today, I will open my workday to hearing from my Higher Power. I will follow the recovery practice of asking for the best understanding of His will for me that I’m capable of today, and for the grace to carry it out. I may find that the tasks in front of me are God’s will for me, and that He can meet me in the midst of the everyday and ordinary.
