It’s easy to see the negative. If my workplace is home to things like gossip or slacking off or disrespect, I’m sure to notice. What I do with that observation is up to me. I can let my frustration ratchet up, or I can focus on changing the things I can.

Today I’ll try using the slogan “Let It Begin with Me” to frame my thinking. What do I want to see more of in my workplace? Respect? Communication? Teamwork? I will try practicing those things myself instead of making others responsible for my contentment. Then I’ll watch what happens. It may be that I’m not the only one who wants a different experience at work. Others may — or may not — join in. Either way, I can make my own day that much better, and my workplace that much saner.
