Just for Today

·

New behavior is uncomfortable. But working the Steps can give me a new comfort with letting go of the outcome when I try something different. As I progress through the Steps, there’s a magic that happens that makes me better able to detach from other people’s responses, more aware that if I make a mistake, I can try again.

Today I will try something new and see what happens. Maybe I will ask for something I need, something I previously hesitated to bring up. Maybe I will volunteer to do something I thought I couldn’t handle. Or I will take all the breaks available, rather than working straight through out of fear of being perceived as slacking.

I can try new things, observe the outcome, and make adjustments as needed because I don’t have to live in fear today.
