It’s normal to think about work a lot. Right? It’s such an important part of life, and it can require so much attention, and it takes up such a big part of the day.
In the rooms of recovery, it’s common to hear, “Whatever you think about the most is your Higher Power.” If I think more about work than anything else, it’s possible I’ve made my job my Higher Power. And if that’s true, my life will be much less serene than when I prioritize a spiritual connection.
Today I will pay attention to the tasks in front of me, but recognize when I’m drifting into drama or obsession. If I catch myself getting overly focused on situations I can’t control, I will reflect on Steps One, Two and Three and remember that my job is not my Higher Power.
